Throughout this process, the case management team helped her assess what had led her to seek shelter and the resources she needed to move forward. Together, they explored multiple options, considering her aspirations—whether to start anew, reconcile with local circumstances, or reconnect with family members within the state. After careful reflection, she decided that a fresh start was the best direction for her.
The next step was identifying where she wanted to begin this new chapter. With staff support, she explored options in the Carolinas and the Southwest. However, after experiencing setbacks with other guests who had relocated, the team revisited options closer to home but struggled to find suitable resources. Finally, they identified a location near family members with whom she longed to reconnect but had been unable to due to her past circumstances.
Determined to ensure her transition was successful, the staff worked tirelessly to find a place that would meet her needs and welcome her into the next phase of her journey. Today, after overcoming countless obstacles, moments of frustration, and emotional challenges, she is taking a significant step toward independence. With the unwavering support of Code Blue staff, volunteers, and the friendships she has built along the way, she moves forward, knowing she has a network of people ensuring she has the resources needed to thrive in her next destination.
Her journey is a testament to resilience, hope, and the power of community support in creating new beginnings.
