AGAPE and The Gate House have established the Montour County Emergency Shelter, a temporary shelter designed to provide safety, stability, and support for Montour County residents displaced by the recent closure of a local hotel.
The shelter was created after individuals who had been relying on the hotel for housing suddenly found themselves without a place to stay. Recognizing the immediate need, AGAPE acted quickly to ensure vulnerable residents would not be left without shelter.
The Montour County Emergency Shelter serves as a temporary solution for individuals displaced by the recent closure. The shelter is intended to operate for approximately 30 days, providing short-term shelter for those in need.
The rapid creation of the shelter reflects AGAPE’s commitment to serving neighbors in need. In response to the urgent circumstances, staff, volunteers, and other local agencies worked quickly to create a safe and welcoming space for those affected by the displacement.
This effort aligns closely with AGAPE’s mission to serve neighbors facing hardship with compassion, dignity, and practical support. The shelter provides a safe, welcoming environment while helping meet immediate needs during a time of uncertainty.
The Montour County Emergency Shelter demonstrates AGAPE’s commitment to providing immediate assistance when members of the community need it most. While the shelter is not intended to be a permanent housing solution, it provides a safe place to stay during a critical time for those affected by the displacement.
