This was the reality for two women and a teenage son who came to AGAPE during Code Blue shelter operations after finding themselves without a safe or stable living situation. Both women were hearing impaired, which created additional challenges as they worked toward securing permanent housing and rebuilding stability for their family.
During their time at the shelter, AGAPE worked closely with them to identify housing opportunities and connect them with resources that could help them move forward.
After an apartment was secured, another important step remained. The home needed accessibility updates to become code compliant and accommodate their specific needs. AGAPE helped coordinate the process to ensure the space would be safe, functional, and supportive for the family.
Stories like this highlight how homelessness is rarely tied to just one circumstance. Many individuals and families face overlapping challenges that require practical support, advocacy, and strong community partnership.
At AGAPE, programs like Code Blue provide more than temporary shelter during dangerously cold weather. They also create opportunities to connect neighbors with resources that support long-term stability, independence, and hope for the future.
Today, this family has moved from emergency shelter into stable housing and continues building toward a stronger future together.
Their journey is a reminder that compassionate support and community partnership can help create lasting change during life’s most difficult seasons.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2
