Families are the Heart of our Community

AGAPE’s Family Care Programs offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of every member of the family—whether it’s help with basic necessities, emotional and spiritual support, or opportunities for learning and growth.

For more information about any of these programs, call us at 570-317-2210 or email info@agape-pa.org.

WIN

Women in Need

WIN (Women in Need) helps ensure that women and girls have consistent access to essential hygiene products. By meeting these basic needs, we support dignity, health, and opportunity—freeing up family resources and helping women and girls thrive at school, at work, and at home.

Products are distributed monthly through local schools, community agencies, and directly through AGAPE’s office during Fresh Express events (first Thursday of each month).

Financial Security &
Poverty Education Programs

AGAPE also offers powerful programs aimed at building long-term financial stability and increasing community understanding of poverty:

Financial Stability Classes
AGAPE’s Financial Stability classes offer basic financial education and practical tools to help individuals and families build stronger, more secure futures.

Bridges Out of Poverty
Based on the groundbreaking work of Dr. Ruby K. Payne, Bridges Out of Poverty helps social workers, educators, legal professionals, and service providers better understand the challenges faced by low-income individuals—and how to make lasting, effective change.

The training includes real-world case studies, practical solutions, and exercises designed to shift perspectives and inspire action.

Poverty Simulation Workshop
AGAPE’s Poverty Simulation is a powerful three-hour experience that gives participants a glimpse into the daily struggles of low-income families. Participants are assigned roles and must navigate real-world challenges like paying bills, accessing healthcare, securing childcare, and maintaining employment—all within a compressed, fast-paced simulation of a month’s time.

This eye-opening experience has changed countless perceptions and deepened community understanding of poverty’s complex realities.

Happy Tails

AGAPE’s Happy Tails program helps Fresh Express clients care for their beloved pets by providing free pet food and supplies, donated through our partnerships with GOODS Charities/Rescue Bank and Smuckers.

Registered pets are eligible to receive monthly distributions during Fresh Express (third Thursday of each month).

Small Beginnings

Small Beginnings is dedicated to nurturing at-risk children through faith, education, and encouragement. We focus on building strong foundations by helping children grow academically, spiritually, and emotionally.

Prime Time
A faith-based after-school program for ages 5–12 (and respectful teens) held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00–5:30 PM at the Briar Creek Borough Building (6029 Park Road, Berwick). Open when public schools are in session. For more information, contact Kim Sullivan at sullivan@pa.metrocast.net or (570) 814-3110.

Daniel’s Prayer Team

AGAPE’s Daniel’s Prayer Team offers prayer support for clients who seek spiritual encouragement. Team members listen compassionately and lift client concerns in prayer. We also provide free spiritual resources, such as Bibles and devotionals, to help guide individuals in their daily faith journey.

Learning More

Knowledge is power—and sometimes just one connection can change a life.
Through Learning More, AGAPE provides educational referrals and training assistance to help individuals at critical turning points, whether it’s securing a new job, navigating a family crisis, or planning for the future.
